Bath High School would like to share important information about upcoming changes to the State of Michigan’s youth work permit process that will impact students under the age of 18 seeking employment during the school year or summer months.
What Is Changing?
Michigan recently enacted legislation that will transition the state’s youth work permit system from the current school-based process to a centralized system administered by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO).
Beginning October 2, 2026, students will no longer obtain work permits through the high school or the BCS District Office. Instead, minors and employers will use the State of Michigan’s free centralized online system to apply for and process youth work permits.

New Online System: Students and employers must use LEO’s Youth Employment Permit Portal (YEPP) to apply for and process work permits.
How to Apply for a New Work Permit
Step 1: Create a YEPP Account
Students will enter information including:
Personal and parent/guardian information
School information, including school start and end times
Employer information, including the employer’s address and manager’s name
Step 2: Employer Completes Their Section
YEPP will notify the employer, who will provide information about the student’s job duties, wage, work hours, and shifts.
Step 3: State Review
The State of Michigan will review the information submitted by the student and employer.
Schools will not need to approve the permit.
Step 4: Permit Approved
Once the permit is approved, the student and employer will be notified. The work permit will be active in YEPP.

Exciting things have been happening in the Elementary Smart Lab.
Exploring Gears kits were used to make forms of transportation.
Kindergarten and Y5's explored light, learning about how light travels through transparent, translucent, and opaque objects.
Kindergarten students wrote code as they worked with Bee-Bot to go through the Hey Diddle Diddle Nursery Rhyme.
1st Graders reenacted the 3 Billy Goats Gruff Story while building bridges with Keva Planks.
Third graders built bridges with the City Engineering bins.
4th Graders coded with Dash working on solving different puzzles.
A 5th grader experiments with the City Engineering kit to discover how to create a moving bridge. Students worked to create different types of bridges while discovering the strengths and weaknesses of each.
The High School Cross Country Team greeted BES students at they arrived at school this morning.
We are so proud of our Girls Golf Team ⛳️ The team is ranked number 1 in D4 and beat number 2 by 24 yesterday at the C.E. Gleason Construction Girls @ The Meadows.

Look at all these Treasure Chest winners! They all got honeycombs this week for 'bee'ing kind, safe and/or 'bee'ing their best. Bea, our school dog, even got her picture with a honeycomb winner because she was so excited to see so many winners this week. Keep up the great work everyone.
The girls golf team placed 3rd at the Redwing Invite held at the The Emerald in St. Johns. The girls team played against many D1 and D2 schools. Addilyn Duflo came in 1st place with a school record one under 71. This is the first time anyone at Bath has shot under par for an 18 hole event! Congratulations Addilyn!

Last Friday the BHS girls volleyball team greeted elementary students as they arrived for school.
Bath Elementary would like to congratulate some of our winners this week for 'bee'ing great examples to other students in the building. These students were caught 'bee'ing their best this week and got to pick a prize from our Treasure Chest.
It's Friday at Bath Elementary, so that means it is Treasure Chest time! Here are some of our winners from this week. We are so happy to see our students 'bee'ing kind, safe and their best.
The Bath High School Soccer Team was here to greet the elementary students when they arrived at school today.
Open to all students in grades 8-12. Scan the QR code to register for this FREE event. Speak with representatives from over 50 institutions, learn more about financial aid and making the transition from high school to college.
Military Appreciation Night this Friday at the home football game. Kickoff is at 7pm.

Look at these Fantastic End of the week winners! These Bees were kind, safe and being their best this week. They were able to dig for treasure in our Treasure Chest and pick a prize for their hard work. Congratulations Bees!
Bath Elementary School is excited to announce that our first PTA Popcorn Day is next Wednesday, September 9th! Please be sure if your student wants to participate they bring $1 for a bag. Money is collected by 9am by their teachers. Please do not bring money to the office after 9am. Thank you.
