Student Directory
Directory information, which is information that is generally not considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released, can also be disclosed to outside organizations without a parent’s prior written consent. Outside organizations include, but are not limited to, companies that manufacture class rings or publish yearbooks. In addition, two federal laws and the Michigan Revised School code require local educational agencies to provide military recruiters, upon request, with three directory information categories—names, addresses and telephone numbers—unless parents have advised that they do not want their student’s information disclosed without prior written consent.

If you do not want Bath Community Schools to disclose directory information from your child’s education records without your prior written consent, you must notify the school district in writing within 14 days of receiving the forms provided by your child’s school. If you do not complete and return the Student Profile form (current student) or the new enrollment form (new student) within 14 days, the district will be free to release or use such information as appropriate.

Bath Community Schools has designated the following information as directory information: Student name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth, major field of study, grade placement, participation in school activities and sports, weight and height of athlete teams, dates of attendance, diplomas, award, pictures and previous school attended.
